Do you know about the case of Cindy and her anorexia nervosa? Well, Cindy was a normal 16 year old girl who really liked barbies, but the problem started when she got so obsessed with barbies that she wanted to look like one of them. Thanks to this she started to eat less and skipping meals, at the point were the doctors diagnosed her with Anorexia Nervosa.
Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder were people are worried about gaining weight or being fat so they start eating less so they fell fit or skinny. This causes that they lose to much weight and their body is not healthy enough so they start getting sick very often compare to other people.
In Cindy´s diary she writes about how obsessed she was for having the perfect body and how she fulfilled it, Until she died of Anorexia Nervosa.
This isn´t the only case of people who died of anorexia nervosa, for example, the most recent death due to Anorexia Nervosa was on January 16 of 2018 (Javiera Muñoz) and the list goes on and on with hundreds of deaths for the pas 6 years, and the worst of all is that this deaths are most from social media and the stereotypes of models and pages related to that.
My solution: in my opinion Cindy's mom should not have sued mattel because she should have been more attentive to her daughter instead of blaming a company that makes toys, but at the same time the company also made a mistake in making a stereotype that could result Insane and even in some cases mortal, then I believe that the company should make a variety of dolls in their physical theme so that they do not only make skinny dolls because people can feel uncomfortable with their body
